Bronwyn Harris, better known as Bonny, brings over 41 years of coaching experience to Waterbender Aquatics Club. She began her teaching career in George in 1985, continued coaching in Johannesburg from 1992, and returned to George in 2021, where she started coaching again in 2023.

One of the highlights of Bonny’s career was receiving the prestigious Swim South Africa Instructor of the Year Award in 2009 at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban.

Bonny is passionate about helping young swimmers discover a love for the sport. She believes in building strong foundations — not only through excellent stroke technique and competitive skills, but also through sportsmanship, confidence, camaraderie, and trust. Her coaching philosophy centres around creating an environment where swimmers believe in themselves and feel supported every step of the way.

What excites Bonny most is taking young swimmers who have just learned the basics and helping them grow into confident athletes who truly love swimming. For her, there is nothing more rewarding than watching a child realise what they are capable of and giving them the confidence to fly — both in and out of the pool.
